Season 5 of "New Girl" will be welcoming a new girl as Zooey Deschanel is temporarily out and Megan Fox is in. The "Transformers" star will reportedly be the new roommate in the Fox hit sitcom.
According to Christian Post, the 29-year-old actress will be filling in for Deschanel, who plays the role of Jess Christopher Day. Deschanel is reportedly pregnant with her first child and due to her maternity leave, the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle" star will reportedly stand in for her as the newcomer named Reagan. As described by the publication, Regan is a gorgeous and straight-shooting pharmaceutical sales representative who is in town on business.
Fox will be shaking things up as she rents out the room of Jess and the loft will be undergoing changes as well. The actress will first be appearing in the sixth episode of "New Girl" Season 5, /Film reported. Fox will only start to appear in Season 5 episode 6 as Deschanel was able to still shoot for the first five segments of the upcoming season before she took a leave. As for Deschanel's absence, the storyline suggests that she will have to go to jury duty but details about it have not been revealed.
In a statement released by series creator Liz Meriwether, she said, "It's insane to me that such a gorgeous person can be so funny, but I guess we just all have to accept it. I've been a fan of her comedic skills since 'This Is 40,' and I'm so excited to have her on the show. We had Megan in mind when we wrote this part-she's the perfect person to come in and shake these guys up."
Aside from Meriwether, actor Max Greenfield, who plays the role of Schmidt in "New Girl", tweeted about Fox being part of the series which has been on his vision board since the pilot.
Realty Today reported that this is not the first comedy sitcom that Fox has been part of. She also starred in "Hope and Faith" almost ten years ago. As for her other projects, she will be part of the movie "Zeroville" and will star alongside James Franco, Seth Rogen, and Will Ferrell.
The fifth season 5 of "New Girl" will be seeing Megan Fox replacing Zooey Deschanel due to her pregnancy. She will play the role of Regan, a sales representative who will be renting out Deschanel's room. The series will be coming back this January with no specific date yet.
