‘Batman vs Superman’ Update: A Different Kind Of Alfred And Luthor; Gal Gadot Almost Didn’t Get Wonder Woman Role

By

On a different side of "Batman vs Superman", Jesse Eisenberg and Jeremy Irons were given a look into their respective roles. Jesse plays Lex Luthor while Jeremy portrays Alfred Pennyworth. Both share their thoughts about the characters that they portrayed. Gal Gadot, on the other hand, reveals the reason for the near-failure to land the role of Wonder Woman.

Movie News Guide shares a different angle on the "Batman vs Superman" update. They shared a little bit of Alfred Pennyworth's character. This role is played by Jeremy Irons who, instead of becoming the kind father figure that the previous Alfred (played by Michael Cain) has created, turns into the complete opposite. Bruce Wayne's butler will be beating down opponents and will be looking forward to keep a list of those who needs a beatdown. Jeremy Irons shares, "Zack Snyder, the director, wanted to create a completely different Alfred.... I had a feeling I was creating my own Alfred, more of a man who can actually do anything if he has to."

On The Flix also shared Jesse Eisenberg's thoughts on Lex Luthor's role for "Batman vs Superman." Jesse actually said that his role as Lex is the "best and most advantageous role" he was ever given. He explains, "It's because the opportunity to do an interesting character on a movie of that scale is incredibly rare." The credit should be given to screenwriter Chris Terrio. Not having a background on comic books, Terrio based the character on pure story and emotion. He actually shared his objective in how he likes his work done - "To have these very sophisticated, philosophical debates happen on very basic levels."

Lex Luthor's background will be different from that of the comic version. In terms of physical looks, Lex has tons of hair on his head compared to his comic version who is completely bald-headed.

Gal Gadot shares her thoughts about her Princess Diana role, as written in a Batman News article. Gadot reveals that she almost didn't get the role as the Goddess of Truth. She said that she was presented a role as a villain in a solo "Superman" film but she was four months pregnant with her daughter Alma at that time which led her to turn it down. She admitted though that if she weren't so she would really take the job. The role must've been Faora in "Man of Steel" which was eventually offered to Antje Traue. Now she is relieved and glad that is what happened because if she took the previous role there probably wouldn't be any chance for her to be Wonder Woman. In the eyes of comic book and movie fans, this is definitely a much bigger role.

Focusing on Lex Luthor(Jesse Eisenberg), Alfred Pennyworth(Jeremy Irons) and Wonder Woman's(Gal Gadot) indeed gives us a different look on the "Batman vs Superman" characters. As Eisenberg, Irons, and Gadot shared their thoughts on the roles given, it appears that all three are satisfied and pleased. One can see that every role is indeed vital and can change a storyline hopefully for the better.
