Meizu MX5 Pro Leak: Alleged Press Render Shows Metallic Design, Flyme OS 5.0

By

Another alleged image of the Meizu MX5 Pro has leaked online. This time, it shows the handset's metal body and the Flyme OS 5.0 operating system.

Meizu is already expected to unveil the MX5 Pro on September 23, but it didn't stop the recent leaked live images and the new alleged press-renders of the phone. The image isn't large and isn't very clear. However, it does show two sides of the phone.

The image originated from China's Weibo site, as it can also be seen as a watermark on the image. The Meizu MX5 Pro is shown with a new lock screen with 18:30 as the time. "Meizu" can also be read in the back side of the handset.

Previously, the Meizu MX5 Pro was expected to run on a vanilla version of Android, according to Digit. However the new alleged press render shows that it could run the company's own Flyme OS 5.0 which is based on the Android 5.1 Lollipop version.

Processor

The Meizu MX5 Pro is expected to be powered by the Exynos 7420 chipset, which happens to be the same processor running Samsung's flagship handset models.

There is also another rumored version of the phone that will run MediaTek's Helio X20 chipset. Qualcomm's popular Snapdragon SoCs were not used for the MX5 Pro. The International Business Times reported that the Meizu VP has announced that they do not want the phone to suffer from the Snapdragon 810's overheating problems.

Display

Fans will be glad to know that the Meizu MX5 Pro will either have a 5.5-inch or a much larger 5.7-inch display with a pixel resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The pixel density isn't known yet.

Camera and RAM

Meizu included a decent 21MP main camera for the MX5 Pro. It would be enough for selfies and other photo-taking opportunities as most mid-end smartphones today have only around 13 up to 18MP rear cameras.

The handset will also have 4GB of RAM, according to GSM Arena. It's more than enough for multitaskers who want to keep running apps in the background for convenience when switching.

Pricing

While Meizu hasn't actually announced anything yet, most reports say that it could cost less than $500 in China. There is no guarantee if the MX5 Pro will be sold outside China.

The Meizu MX5 Pro is expected to launch today. Fans and interested Android users will finally found out it the leaked images are indeed true.
