Kristen Bell has signed to join the highly-anticipated remake of the 1970s crime series "CHiPs." The 35-year-old beauty will be joining her real-life husband Dax Shepard who will direct the film.

TheWrap reported that Bell, who has one of the most varied resumes in Hollywood, has signed to co-star in the new movie "CHiPs ." However, it is yet to be confirmed as to what role she will be playing; the fact that she has joined the film is enough to make fans consider watching the forthcoming movie.

This isn't the first time that real-life couple Bell and Shepard have worked together. They both have appeared in the romantic comedy "When In Rome" as well as the action-flick "Hit and Run."

In an interview with Expose, the actress revealed the challenges she and her husband had to face in terms of balancing careers with their family life. She said, ''We're trying to have only one parent working at a time.'' Rumors of Bell's casting have emerged right after the actress opted to take the summer off.

Shepard and Michael Pena (Fury, Ant-Man) will also star in the movie adaptation of the popular TV series, and will play the role of two California highway patrol officers. Shepard will take the role of Jon Baker, originally played by Larry Wilcox, while Pena is taking over the role of Frank "Ponch" Poncherello played by Erik Estrada. Adam Brody (Think Like A Man Too, Life Partners) and Rosa Salazar (Insurgent, Night Owls) will also be part of the film.

According to /Film, Vincent D'Onofrio will be playing the film's villain, the leader of an exotic car theft ring and who also happens to be a ruthless ex-cop. The new set of talents is believed to be quite intriguing, especially with how they're going to bring this film into life.

The details of the movie as well as its release date are yet to be confirmed. But one thing's for sure though, Kristen Bell and her husband Dax Shepard will be part of the remake of 1970's crime series "CHiPs."
