Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be available for the public within the next few weeks. Reports said that the first devices which will receive the new update are the Nexus phones such as Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 and Nexus tablets. Aside from Nexus, other high-end devices from Samsung, Motorola, Sony, and more will receive the new OS update late 2015 or early 2016.
Tech Advisor noted that Google will hold an event on September 29 with the unveiling of new Nexus 5 and 6. These phones are believed to come out with the new Android OS, according to the report. As of the moment, old Nexus series such as Nexus 5, 6, 9, and Nexus Player are experiencing the Developer's Preview of Android M.
Related report also said that Sony, Samsung, HTC, and other well-known manufacturers will receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow until early 2016. More so, smaller manufacturers and older smartphones may not be able to receive such update. As per the record of Tech Advisor, there are only 40 percent Android devices which run old Android operating systems like Lollipop and KitKat as of September 7, 2015. Out of the 40 percent, there are only 21 percent of devices that run Lollipop which will most likely receive the new OS update.
Neuro Gadget on the other hand, listed some of the Motorola phones that will receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow such as Motorola's X Style, Droid Turbo and Moto G. According to HTC, HTC One M9, One M9+, and One M8 will also surely receive Marshmallow. Samsung will also join with the update in its Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, Note 5, and S6 Edge Plus, according to Christian Today. Another well-known manufacturer, Sony, has confirmed the release of Marshmallow in its Xperia smartphones and tablets such as Z3, Z3 Compact, Z3 Tablet Compact, Z2 Tablet, Z1, Z1 Compact, Z Ultra, E3, M2, T2 Ultra and T3, Tech Radar noted. As of the moment, these devices are experiencing Android M developer's preview.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow is expected to provide great enhancements to Google services and bug fixes on smartphones and tablets. Once the new Android OS becomes available for public use, it will be sent through an OTA message.
