After Metallica kicked off the "Rock In Rio" festival in Brazil, the video of the band's full rock and roll performance went viral on different websites. On the other hand, the band has reportedly been working on its tenth studio album, which will follow their 2008 release, "Death Magnetic".
Metallica's 2015 "Rock In Rio" set video in Brazil on September 19 went viral over the Internet. According to Anti Music, the heavy metal band highlighted the 30th anniversary event. The show also included music legends and bands Motley Crue, Korn and Royal Blood, and many more.
In a report, a few weeks before their performance in the "Rock in Rio", the band claimed, "We're very excited that we have been invited to be a part of the original Rock in Rio 30-year celebration by headlining one night during the festivities taking place September 18th - 27th, 2015 at the City of Rock in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil." The band members also updated fans on what to expect on the celebration. They dished different artists and bands joining them, including Faith No More, Systems of A Down, Queens Of The Stone Age, Slipknot, and many others.
On the other hand, Metallica has been constantly hinting about their latest album for quite some time now. The band teased that there is a lot of new stuff to be expected on their new music to be purportedly released this year. And just recently, Kirk Hammett told Loop 97.9 via Blabber Mouth that the band has been in the studio between shows.
He revealed, "Let me put it into some perspective. Okay, the last [U.S.] show we played before this was in Las Vegas [at Rock In Rio], in.... whenever it was... April or June... something like that." Hammett also admitted that the band might not be doing anything in between shows, but they are spending a lot of time in the studio recording and working on their music.
In a report by The Guardian, Hammett also revealed that he thinks that the upcoming album is an "extension" of their previous release and one of their first releases, "Death Magnetic" and "And Justice For All." Hammett stated that it's a lot more alike to "Death Magnetic", but there are some parts that have distinctions. He also insisted that there are a number of songs that reminded him of "And Justice for All".But claimed that the album itself doesn't sound like "And Justice for All".
At this point, the metal band's fans are reportedly very excited for the new record, but they are very upfront that they really don't have any expectations on what the band's new music would sound like. Though the band has not given the exact date yet; considering all the teasers and hints they have regularly revealed, some are speculating that they might roll out their 10th album before the year ends.
