"Prometheus 2" is set to be shown in theaters in 2016 with director Ridley Scott at the helm. The director himself confirmed not just one but two more sequels for this particular film. Since this would surely require a lot of time and planning, Neill Blomkamp's "Alien 5" production schedule has been moved at a later date.
ComingSoon.net reports that Ridley Scott himself will direct "Prometheus 2" which is scheduled to start production in the first quarter of 2016. Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender will be brought back to reprise their roles as Elizabeth Shaw and the android David, respectively. Scott himself openly declared that his next job will be the sequel for the movie "Prometheus", which was released in 2012.
Cinemablend adds that Ridley Scott confirmed two more follow-up films after "Prometheus 2" during an interview with a German movie website. What triggered the English film director and producer to reveal such is when he was asked if the sequel for "Prometheus" will be directly connected to "Alien."
Scott immediately confirmed it with a yes but he also adds that it won't happen, at least not yet, for the sequel. He says that it will happen on the third or fourth follow up. He adds "The whole point of it is to explain the Alien franchise and to explain the how and why of the creation of the Alien itself. I always thought of the Alien as kind of a piece of bacterial warfare."
Movie Web shares that it is worth taking note that the quote from Ridley Scott may be inaccurate or out of context since it was translated from German language. However, It seems that Scott has got it all planned out. Fans and moviegoers will have to check out how "Prometheus 2" will turn out compared to its predecessor. As for Neill Blomkamp's "Alien 5", production was pushed back to give way to Scott's "Prometheus" sequels. The fifth Alien follow-up will be shown on 2018.
