The Federal Trade Commission's ex-Chairman Jon Leibowitz is now joining Davis Polk & Wardwell's Washington D.C. office as partner. Liebowitz worked as the Federal Trade Commission's Charman for four years since 2009, and as Commissioner for five years from 2004 to 2009.
Davis Polk & Wardwell is a multinational law firm that has broad range within its practice, including mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, litigation, private equity, investment management, insolvency and restructuring, and antitrust. Liebowitz will join the expansive company's antitrust team.
"With the addition of Jon, we strengthen our commitment to ensuring that our Washington office is a destination for solving complex antitrust and merger clearance issues," stated Thomas J. Reid, Managing Partner at Davis Polk & Wardwell. "Jon's stature and experience at the highest levels of government make him ideally suited to work within our antitrust and M&A practices. We simply could not have found a better fit for us and our clients," he continued.
Liebowitz was the head of the FTC's drive to police single firm conduct. His most notable achievement was his involvement in the settlement between Google and Intel.
