Sony's forerunner models Xperia Z, ZL and ZR has recently received the Android 5.1.1 upgrade, which is said to bring a lot of new features.
As the Lollipop 5.1.1 update has reached the Sony T2 Ultra, it is now the time for other superior smartphones of Sony to receive this update.
According to Neurogadget, the Lollipop upgrade for Sony Xperia Z WiFi, ZL and ZR was finally released through over-the-air (OTA). This new operating system having a build number of 10.7.A.0.222 brought many enhancements to the above-mentioned devices.
Users of these devices will receive an update notification which they simply have to select the "Yes, download" option, followed by "Install now" (after the download is complete). Once the mobile device is updated to the new Android 5.1.1 software, it will restart instantly and users will then see that it runs on the latest Android version.
The IBTimes cited additional features that the OS update brings, one of which is customization options like silent modes and a new alert system. Another is camera improvement with superior auto-mode focus. It also brought enhancement to enterprise support. Meanwhile, the Xperia in Business feature for work now has an option to take a selfie via SmartWear. Users can now use Sony's SmartWatch 3 as a remote shutter button for taking pictures.
Tech Times said that Sony had missed the software patch to plug the Stagefright security loophole in the Xperia Z series. This is quite odd as the company had released the same update with Stagefright bug-fix to other Xperia models.
With this, Sony will most likely release separate security updates soon and until that moment, users are advised to take some protective measures like disabling automatic MMS read option to prevent any susceptibility from Stagefright.
