Kanye West announced his candidacy for president in 2020 at the MTV's Video Music Awards last month. Since then, he hit the headlines with people questioning, is he really serious about running for president? So far, he hasn't received any backlash since he made his announcement. There are even celebrities, who showed their support for Yeezy.
Kim Kardashian's husband and father of North is definitely serious and sticking to his speech. He's running for president, but he claimed that he needs to get ready before that day. In an interview with Vanity Fair, West made it clear that there's no turning back in his impending political career.
"I've got five years before I go and run for office and I've got a lot of research to do, I've got a lot of growing up to do," West said. " My dad has two masters degrees. My mom has a PhD, she used to work at Operation PUSH. Somehow the more and more creative I get, the closer and closer I get to who I was as a child. When I was a child, I was holding my mom's hand at Operation PUSH. I think it's time."
West believes that people are now more accepting about his plan to run for the 2020 presidential election. According to the music mogul and fashion designer, people think that every time he got into trouble, he's ready to jump for a bullet for someone else. He admitted that he's probably the most honest celebrity today, News.Sky reports.
Meanwhile, West is continuously gaining the support of his fellow celebrities on his candidacy. There is Chelsea Clinton, who thinks that his announcement was "awesome", ABC News reports. Vanessa Williams believes he is a man of his word and running for the bid is "fascinating." Actor Alec Baldwin says it's fantastic and he also thinks that West is a "different kind of elite." Josh Groban said that if he will be the president, Kim Kardashian's fashion would be extraordinary, "she'd kill it!".
Aside from the mentioned stars, Anna Chlumsky, Kelly Rowland, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Khloe Kardashian, Ice Cube and even Donald Trump showed their support for West for the presidential bid. The 38-year-old producer hasn't announced which party he will be participating in 2020.
