Beginning today, the biggest mobile carrier in the US Verizon Wireless will roll out Android security patches on devices running with Lollipop's latest software version. The update particularly comes to Samsung's latest releases Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+, and other flagship phones Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6.
Verizon Wireless has rolled out the Android security patches starting September 25 to Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6. This update shall culminate in two weeks' time from release date.
The Android security patches will come via over-the-air update. If prompted for the update, just follow onscreen instructions. To manually check for the update, head over to Settings > About phone > Software update > Check for updates.
Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 currently run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop version. Latest offering of the South Korean tech giant Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ were launched early in September at the IFA 2015 event in Berlin, Germany. While Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 were launched back in March at the MWC 2015 in Barcelona, Spain.
All devices have taken the event by storm, gathering claps and cheers from both audiences and critics for its truly killer features. Galaxy S6 Edge particularly received notable reviews for its touch screen extending to its edges despite claims that some units had insensitive edges. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Note 5 specifically was lauded as well for Samsung's fresh take on its S Pen despite also its design that could possibly contribute to breaking of the device.
In another news, Samsung has been rumored to release the Galaxy S7 in the first quarter of 2016. Although there has not been a final word from the giant, tech experts believe there is likely another supersized smartphone coming up next year as per Samsung's yearly release tradition. However, the name S7 could not be verified for now but it would most likely be if Samsung has plans of leveraging the Galaxy S series.
