Samsung Galaxy S2 Stuck with Jelly Bean, Has Good Chance for Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update

By

Galaxy S2 units both unlocked and under mobile carrier still run on Android KitKat and many are expecting that Samsung would take a few steps forward to 5.1.1 version just like it did to some older phones. New reports claim that the South Korean tech giant might be pushing the Lollipop's final software update to keep up with other brands in the market.

Tech experts and Android fanatics believe that it is not too impossible for the Galaxy S2 to receive the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update as some of Samsung's older and mid-range devices have receive it already, some even jumping from KitKat to 5.1.1 Lollipop. The Galaxy S2 units under major mobile carriers in the United States Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular and AT&T are still stuck with Android KitKat software.

According to recent news, Galaxy S2 might also be skipping the 5.0, 5.0.1, 5.0.2, and 5.1 versions and head straight to 5.1.1. Carriers might also be releasing the update amid the Marshmallow fuss slated on September 29 or October 5, as per analysts' evaluation.

Consumers are turning to community forums to vent out their concerns regarding the overdue release of the update. Some other Samsung phones updated with Android 5.1.1 are the mid-range ones, including Galaxy Tab 4 8.0, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy Grand Prime, Galaxy Core Prime, Galaxy Mega 2, Galaxy J1, Galaxy Note 3, and Galaxy Note 4.
