Zoe Saldana got candid about slimming down after having giving birth to her twins Cy and Bowie. The actress claimed that when it comes to post-baby body image issues, she thinks there's too much pressure on mothers to "bounce back" to their usual body after having kids.
"The Avatar" star recently gave birth to twin boys Bowie and Cy in November. Although she has shed off most of her pregnancy pounds, Saldana admitted that there are many other issues of her body that have yet to return to its normal state. "It hurts to be in heels still," she revealed to Nz Herald.
She continued by stating, "I remember my sister telling me - she's a mum of two girls - and she'd be like, 'Zoe, you will understand when you're there'. I thought, 'I'm going to live forever, heels every day, Louboutin, here we go!' But there's something that happens to your body hormonally, and it's not just the weight that you acquire but your nerves, your muscles... Everything hurts and feels uncomfortable."
But one thing's for sure, the actress doesn't want to turn back time to when her body hasn't changed after giving birth. In fact, the 36-year-old star showed off her stunning figure on the cover of InStyle's July 2015 issue. She opened up about how motherhood has changed her life. Saldana claimed, "I don't want to get back to where I used to be, the mother-of-two shared, regarding her figure. I want to feel healthy, and not just fit into the old jeans I used to wear."
According to Huffpost Parents, Saldana wants to take it slow. She thinks new moms should not be expected to return to their before pregnancy state right after giving birth. Saldana stated, "You have to give yourself time." And for mothers who feel like they need to be back in their shape just three months after giving birth to a baby, Saldana gave them a piece of advice as she mentioned, "Breastfeed. Stay home. Sleep. Your kid is only three months old. Like what are you going to the gym for? Catch up on f--king reruns of some sort."
Meanwhile, the actress is reportedly enjoying her time with her twins. She took a break from her career to focus on her babies. And now, after months of giving birth to Cy and Bowie, she insisted that she only trusted her body to bounce back from what it used to be whenever it's ready. She claimed that she never pushed herself to her limit.
