Emma Watson becomes very vocal of her disapprobation of male reigning over women in Hollywood. The British actress feels there is unequal number of women in the movie industry.
The former "Harry Potter" star thinks that there is something wrong on the count of men and women in the movie world. According to E! News, Emma says, "I have experienced sexism in that I have been directed by male directors 17 times and only twice by women. Of the producers I've worked with, 13 have been male and only one has been a woman."
The 25-year old British actress explains she had always won the equality treatment she's been insisting. She also revealed that her major problem is in the media, she confessed she totally felt "differently treated" from her co-actors, the People reported.
Emma Watson's statement was from an interview were Hollywood celebrities are asked their views and experiences working in the movie industry. The young actress also mentioned about her recent campaign, HeforShe. Watson lead a campaign back in 2014 for UN which gave her more awareness of women's inequality problems, Time wrote.
The active feminist star told in the interview, "I think my work with the UN has probably made me even more aware of the problems," Watson explained. "I went out for a work dinner recently. It was 7 men... and me." She also talked about women can also feel a sense of guiltiness on themselves when causing female discrimination inside the industry.
Watson added, the people whom she considered as "best feminist" are male. She said, "like Steve Chbosky who directed me in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and director James Ponsoldt who I am working with at the moment".
English actress-model Emma Watson had been known for being a women advocate as she was appointed as UN Women Goodwill Ambassador last July 2014. She's promoting young women empowerment and gender equality.
