NVIDIA has been quite successful with its portable gaming device. Now, rumors are circulating about the new Shield Tablet 2 which is predicted to be rolled out in the market before the year ends.
One of the most controversial rumors about the new tablet is that it will be powered by the same Tegra X1 processor that was also used by the original Shield. NVIDIA recently issued a recall for the tablets because of overheating issues.
Still, the processor would still pack a punch. The NVIDIA Shield Tablet 2 will have two quad-core units of processors inside the Tegra X1, which will effectively make it an 8-core device. For the clock speed, Christian Today reports that it will run at 2.2GHz.
NVIDIA Shield Tablet 2 Rumored Specs
Besides the same processor, what other features will the portable gaming device have? For starters, it will sport an eight-inch display. What's interesting is that the NVIDIA Shield Tablet 2 is rumored to have a 4K resolution. With a smaller screen than computer monitors, the quality of the display could really spike up.
Another potentially disappointing case about the gaming device is its operating system. It will still run on Android, but it will only have the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop version, according to Crossmap. Google already unveiled the Android 6.0 Marshmallow version.
The NVIDIA Shield Tablet 2 is rumored to offer 5 hours of gaming. With 2GBs of RAM, the user will also able to browse several web pages and watch videos for up to 10 hours. Users will also be able to use expandable storage because of the microSD support. It also has a micro USB and mini HDMI port for easy access.
The NVIDIA Shield Tablet 2 release date is still nowhere to be found as the GPU maker still hasn't announced the device yet. However, it is expected to be this year. For pricing, the tablet is rumored to have a price tag of $299 for the Wi-Fi model, according to TweakTown. Fans claim the cost is a good choice considering that Sony hasn't announced a new portable gaming device.
The NVIDIA Shield Tablet 2 is claimed to be an exciting gaming device. However, the fans still have to play the waiting game as there are still no official announcements from the company.
