Google Pixel C Release Slated This Holiday Season; Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Google has given a sneak peek of its latest gadget, Pixel C, as "C" stands for convertible which can be used as tablet or laptop. Pixel C will be avalable in stores this holiday season.

Google holds an annual event every fall season in which they reveal their latest devices. This year, they will introduce two new Nexus smartphones as well as a hybrid tablet with an aesthetic form similar to the Ipad Air 2.

During the September press event of Google, they presented Google Pixel C as the latest device with impressive specs that suits the trendy hardware design. However, it isn't going to run with Chrome OS unlike Google's Chromebook Pixel. Instead, it will run on on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow along with the new Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P smartphones.

According to Google, the Pixel C has an aluminum design and an optional keyboard, which is one of its best features. The keyboard is priced at $149 and will be sold separately. The self-aligning magnet that connects the two integrated hardware is very strong so it will not tear apart if users playfully hold it upside down. The keyboard connects via Bluetooth.

The name of the tablet itself makes sense as the 'C' in Pixel C stands for "convertible". It can be used for playing games like a tablet as well as for work or typing a long email like a laptop.

On the other hand, consumers would want an easy-to-use tablet but also have enough room for keyboard, as reported by Wired. The Google Pixel C has a 10.2in 2560x1800 resolution display with a super-bright backlight capable of 500 nits.

Google said that the device is equipped with a desktop-class graphic performance similar to a real deal laptop assembly. Aside from that, the tablet display is powered with a Quad-core Nvidia X1 processor and Maxwell GPU.

Google has revealed that consumers could expect 3GB of RAM. Moreover, Google boasts of Pixel C's USB Type-C connector, four-microphone set up, and a light bar which can also be seen in the Chromebook Pixel device. Users can double-tap the light bar to check its battery life.

According to Digital Trend's article which compared Google Pixel C against the Apple iPad Air 2, it is still early to make a final judgment concerning these two tablets. However, iPad Air 2 is generally a more capable device because of its processor benchmarks and has more RAM. It also showed that the iPad Air 2 will have better connectivity because of its LTE support. Pixel C's connectivity specification isn't yet revealed, though.

Google Pixel C will be available in store shelves this holiday season. The tablet will be priced at $499 for 32GB and $599 for the 64GB variant.
