LG has finally unveiled its newest device, the V10 smartphone, on Thursday. Samsung seems to have found a new competitor for its brand new Galaxy Note 5. Will the LG's new ticker screen be enough to win against the Samsung Galaxy Note 5?
Both have 5.7 inches in display which puts them perfectly against each other. LG's smartphone has a bit smaller 513ppi pixel density, compared to Samsung's 518 ppi. However, LG wins this round as it has a small secondary ticker screen on the top of the screen for apps.
Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 can win in terms of the color quality as its display is powered by AMOLED which has richer colors. Meanwhile, the LG V10 is powered using the traditional LCD IPS technology commonly found on most phones. Both have Quad-HD resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels.
In terms of processing power, Samsung has the better octa-core Exynos 7420 SoC clocked at an amazing 2.1 GHz, compared to LG's Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 with a lower clock speed of 1.8 GHz, according to Android Headlines. The Exynos is also found on the new Meizu Pro 5 smartphone.
For photography lovers, the LG V10 may be a slightly better choice than the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. They both have 16-MP cameras, but the difference is in the aperture size. LG's phone has a better f/1.8 compared to Samsung's f/1.9. Additionally, LG installed two front snappers on the V10, while the Note 5 only has one.
In terms of storage, LG takes the win. Samsung only rolled out 32GB and 64GB models for its phone with no expandable storage support. LG, on the other hand, has a 64GB model that also comes with a microSD card slot for additional capacity, according to Phone Arena.
Both phones run Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. Also, the battery capacities are the same at 3000mAh. However, the LG V10 has a removable battery which makes it a big advantage.
Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 is already available for around $349 for a two-year contract. LG is expected to launch their new smartphone for around $680 in Korea this October. A global launch date and price is yet to be revealed, according to PC Advisor.
Specs-wise, the LG V10 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 are quite close. Which of the two do you think is the better smartphone from South Korea? Leave your comments below.
