It is a fairy tale journey to the new world once again with Enchanted 2. Disney has recently revived the plans for the sequel and is moving along with a new title. Amy Adams is also expected to return to reprise her role as Giselle.
As reported by Screenrant, though it took its time, Disney has returned focus on the upcoming sequel to the hit 2007 film and entitled it, 'Disenchanted'. No details have been revealed for the sequel and although it has not been confirmed yet, it is widely believed to see the return of characters from the previous film especially Amy Adams' Giselle, Patrick Dempsey as Robert, and James Marsden as Prince Edward.
It was also revealed by Den of Geek that plans for the sequel first came out five years ago, however, development details have been scarce since then. Anne Fletcher is still sitting on the director's chair for the sequel, although, the script which was initially penned by Jessie Nelson will be reworked. In 2014, David Stem and David Weiss were reportedly hired to write a script, however no update has been revealed yet about their work.
The first film was a blockbuster hit and grossed a total of $340.5 million in the box office, from the $127.8 million earned domestically, and $212.7 worldwide, according to a report by Comingsoon.net.
The film told the story of an animated supposed-to-be princess Giselle who was thrown to the human world through the work of the evil queen. She later met a man with his daughter who taught her the ways in the real world and true love.
The forthcoming movie is set to be produced by Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld. No release date has been revealed as of yet for Enchanted 2. Stay tuned for more details and news.
