Demi Lovato stripped down and bared it all for a no-makeup and no-retouching photo shoot with Vanity Fair. The pop singer was very confident as she showed off her naked body, even if she allegedly dealt with body image issues for many years.
According to E! News, the singer seemed completely naked and makeup-free in a new spread of the magazine by photographer Patrick Ecclesine. The photo shoot took place in a hotel room in New York City. The raunchy photos include one of Lovato from behind sitting with her bare butt on the edge of a bathtub. And in a note alongside the photos, Ecclesine claims that they were actually talking about "sadness" that night because her great-grandfather Buddy Moore had passed away just a day before.
"I would have never thought that I would have ever gotten to a place in my life where I would have felt comfortable doing that," the former Disney child star told Vanity Fair in a behind-the-scenes video. She added, "It's empowering and it shows other women that you can get to a place where you can overcome the obstacles of body image issues. And you can feel comfortable and confident in yourself."
The 23- year old performer previously suffered from an eating disorder and admitted to hating every single inch of her body, but she strived to fight all of her issues when she decided to love herself. The pop icon also opened up about her efforts to stop her drug addiction and self harming, as reported by US Weekly.
She claimed that she wanted to embrace her new life and her new self. The songstress revealed, "I basically went from hating every single inch of my body to working on myself and trying to figure out ways to love myself, love the skin that I'm in. She continued explaining by stating, "I learned after working very hard on my spirituality and my soul and my body, I learned that you can get to a place where you can love the skin you're in."
Her fans, on the other hand, had been very supportive of her decision to pose naked. Fans who have followed the songstress even on her Disney career understand how difficult it must've been for her to go through each of her issues. To support the pop singer, Lovatics started the hashtag, #WeAreProudOfYouDemi, which trended world- wide on Twitter for hours.
"Nothing but true and honest beauty in these photos. @ddlovato you should be proud, bc we are. #WeAreProudOfYouDemi," one fan took to Twitter. Another supported also tweeted wrote, "Demi isn't heroic for taking nudes, Demi is heroic for the message behind it and for having the confidence to do it. #WeAreProudOfYouDemi"
Meanwhile, Lovato's emotional sit-down interview as well as outtakes of her super reaveling photo shoot can now be seen on the Vanity Fair's official webpage. And while Lovato is still mourning for the loss of her great- grandfather, support from her fans continuously pours out from her social media accounts.
