Eddie Redmayne will be joined by another award winner actor in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." Academy Award winner Jon Voight is jumping onboard J.K. Rowling's film adaptation of her own novel with the same title.
Voight has been starring on Showtime's "Ray Donovan" alongside Liev Schreiber. Together with Voight, it was announced that the theatre actress and former fashion model Gemma Chan and British actress and singer Carmen Ejogo will also be a part of the movie. Chan stars in AMC's "Humans" and Ejogo played Coretta Scott King in Ava DuVernay's "Selma." However, there is no information about the characters that they are going to play.
Known as a Harry Potter spin-off, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," is currently on the production stage. The film stars Oscar winner Redmayne in the lead role as Newt Scamander. Redmayne is currently creating another Oscar buzz with his portrayal in "The Danish Girl." His newest role as Newt or Newton is a magizoologist and author of the textbook "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," the book which Harry Potter would read seventy years after. The movie follows Newt in his adventures in New York City's secret community of witches and wizards.
Alongside Redmayne, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" sets to feature Katherine Waterston who plays the role of Newt's love interest Tina. Also on the cast are Collin Farrell, Alison Sudol, Jenn Murray, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogle, and neophyte Faith Wood-Blagrove.
The movie's plot is bound in secrecy as Redmayne and Waterston carefully chooses what to reveal during interviews. In the latest interview with Waterston, she jokingly shares that she feels that her life is at stake if ever she accidentally reveals a detail she is not suppose to tell.
Directed by David Yates, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" could become the next franchise for Warner Bros. The film will be featured in IMAX 4K Laser experience in its release on November 18, 2016.
