Director Ridley Scott has confirms that Ryan Gosling might be taking the lead role for "Blade Runner 2." Director Denis Villeneuve shares his thoughts on being at the helm for this movie which he will direct with the help of Scott.
The Independent shared that Harrison Ford will reprise his role as Deckard in the upcoming sequel "Blade Runner 2." But what is truly taking notice is the choice of Ryan Gosling for the lead role. Ridley Scott teased the press during his promotional tour for "The Martian" that they have made all the necessary preparations and is just waiting for Gosling to make an official announcement that he will be taking the lead role. As for Ford, he is said to be holding a supporting role. The report also shared that the Gosling is the embodiment of a young Harrison Ford. Despite the head-turning cast, there are still doubts if the follow-up film will come to fruition.
On the other hand, Ridley Scott has announced that the film is already in its early stages of production. MOVIEPILOT stated the presumption that the motion picture is inspired by Phillip K. Dicks' novel "Blade Runner 2: The Edge of Human."
Denis Villeneuve will be in charge of the movie but will seek the expertise of Ridley Scott, who will have the final say on the movie. The report also stated that Harrison Ford aims to pass on the franchise to Gosling should he take the role. The story was written by Ridley Scott and Hampton Fancher and screenplay by Michael Green.
Denis Villeneuve said the movie ought to be ready by 2017, as reported by Entertainment Weekly. Villeneuve adds that "Blade Runner" has made a huge impact on him while he was still in his teens. "This movie is linked to the birth of my passion for cinema." At that time, he was still in early stages of his work as a director. The original motion picture is actually one of his favorite films of all time. He declared that he knows the moving picture by heart, every single shot of it. Villeneuve also admits that he has a "very intimate relationship" with the show. Overall, it is a dream job for him, as he is quoted saying, "I never thought that this could happen. I've been dreaming to do a movie like this since I was very young. I feel in my soul that I can do it. But I must say, it's a big challenge."
There will surely be a lot to look forward to as fans and moviegoers alike will rush to cinemas to watch "Blade Runner 2." Hopefully, Ryan Gosling will eventually decide to take the lead role. With Director Denis Villeneuve and Ridley Scott taking charge, perhaps there isn't much to worry about.
