While doing his promotional tour for "Knock Knock", Keanu Reeves shared bits and pieces about the upcoming sequel "John Wick 2." He says the next film will focus more on what the people want to see. Director Chad Stahelski and writer Drew Kolstad are paying more attention to the details to ensure that it comes out the way fans want it.
Collider got a chance to ask Keanu Reeves about the upcoming film "John Wick 2" while he was doing his promotional tour for "Knock Knock." He says that one of the greatest challenges they had to hurdle was continuing the story without having to go back to the same emotional tempo of the first movie. He added that there will be two characters that will be in play - John and John Wick. Reeves says, "In this, John Wick's past comes and infiltrates John's life and John Wick, in a way, has to fight for John."
Keanu mentioned that production is planned to start at the end of the month. Reeves confesses that he has actually been training for months now with the hope not just to equal the intensity of the previous movie but to feature new and different fight scenes by mixing it up. Although he isn't sure about the storyline, as far as he is concerned it's all about the character.
Screen Crush reports that aside from the new fight scenes that Keanu Reeves will be doing in "John Wick 2," they have specific goals and will focus a lot more on character development, not to mention the world expansion for Continental Hotel. It is the hotel in the first film that services assassin clientele. Reeves mentioned that Director Stahelski and writer Derek Kolstad are focusing more on what the moviegoers have enjoyed and liked about the previous movie. They are "definitely paying more attention" to it. The hotel is one that viewers enjoyed so they are expanding the horizon on that part.
Spinoff Online adds that Keanu Reeves thinks that the follow-up movie "John Wick 2" has a really good premise. "It's an organic premise", as he is quoted saying. He emphasized that there will be a definite influence of the Continental world that will give the feel, the look, and will mainly be part of the sequel.
Now that Keanu Reeves has given teasers for "John Wick 2", fans of the first film will hopefully enjoy the sequel as director Chad Stahelski and writer Drew Kolstad are giving more attention to what people have enjoyed in the first movie. Production will start this fall and will have a 2017 release date.
