It has been reported that Sony Xperia Z Ultra will not be receiving the most exciting Android 6.0 Marshmallow update as Sony Mobile revealed yesterday a list outlining which of its Xperia devices will get the software upgrade. However, hopes are high for some that the device will still get the update. Here's why.
Sony Mobile has released a post on its official blog site regarding on which Xperia devices will get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. The absence of Xperia Z Ultra prompted news that its Android software update has been ended.
However, there is a brighter side for some tech analysts and Sony fans. Accordingly, the list only tells initial roadmap of the Japanese tech giant for Android 6.0 Marshmallow and could be subject to additions in the future. In fact, the blog post stated that the company is working hard to take along the major Android software update to as many of its devices as possible and as quickly as it can.
Alongside Xperia Z Ultra, excluded from the list as well are Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact. These devices were launched in 2013 and are currently running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software.
Meanwhile, 14 lucky devices are surely getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update including Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia M5, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M4 Aqua, and Xperia C4.
Other smartphone manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, Google, LG, and Motorola have also released to the public their upgrade plans for their devices. T-Mobile on the other end is the first mobile carrier in the US to announce a list of devices ready for Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow will offer key features and enhancements, allowing users to exercise greater control over app permissions; purchase easily and securely with fingerprint support and Android Pay; experience enhanced battery-life through Doze; and redesigned App Drawer.
