Despite its exclusion from Sony Mobile's unveiled list of Android 6.0 Marshmallow update roadmap, Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is still possible to get the software upgrade according to tech analysts and Android experts. As per analysts and exerts, the list revealed is reportedly initial and subject to additions in the future.
Sony Mobile has just released on its official blog site a list of the company's roadmap for Android 6.0 Marshmallow, outlining which of its smartphones and tablets will get the update. The absence of Xperia Z1 Compact prompted sad news that the Japanese tech titan is ending the Android journey of the device.
However, according to some tech analysts and Android experts, the list revealed by Sony Mobile through a post is only initial, giving privilege to newer devices. They furthered that it could also be subject to changes and additions.
In fact, the blog post emphasized that the company is working hard to take along the major Android software update to as many of its devices as possible and as quickly as it can. Along with Xperia Z1 Compact, excluded from the list as well are Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1. These devices were launched in 2013 and are currently running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software.
Meanwhile, 14 lucky devices are surely getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update including Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia M5, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M4 Aqua, and Xperia C4.
Other smartphone manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, Google, LG, and Motorola have publicly released their upgrade plans for their devices. T-Mobile on the other end is the first mobile carrier in the US to announce a list of devices ready for Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow will offer key features and enhancements, allowing users to exercise greater control over app permissions; purchase easily and securely with fingerprint support and Android Pay; experience enhanced battery-life through Doze; and redesigned App Drawer.
