Prince William and his wife, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, recently showed their support for 'World Mental Health Day' by attending an event raised by a charity that focuses on supporting those who have suffered from various mental health problems. The couple spent their afternoon bonding with different volunteers at the event that had previously suffered, or still are suffering from the different mental health issues that can affect a person's day-to-day activities.
As reported by the Daily Mail UK, Prince William and Kate Middleton spent they Saturday afternoon, October 11, reaching out to those how have suffered with various mental health problems. The couple left their two children at home as they set out to Harrow College in North West London to attend an event held by a charity called 'Mind' which gave them the opportunity to talk and support volunteers of the said charity and the anti-stigma campaign 'Time To Change.'
According to Hello Magazine, building awareness and understanding the mental health illnesses is a priority for the Duke and his wife; apparently the son of the late Princess Diana recently took part in an anti-bullying class which was run by a charity in his mother's name. The Duchess of Cambridge also played her part supporting the subject as she recently visited the Anna Freud Centre in London, which is focused on working with the younger generation who are dealing with different mental health issues.
CEO of 'Mind' Paul Farmer expressed his gratitude at the event, saying how delighted he and his team are in having the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge join their charity on this special occasion. He later on added how their support will shine as a spotlight on mental health, which will hopefully encourage others across the country to take a stand in helping spread the awareness of this very serious but taken for granted illnesses.
In another report from Metro UK, William and Kate enjoyed their afternoon listening to different volunteers talk about their personal experiences and how they overcame certain mental problems that severely affected their lives. The British couple also took the time to discuss in groups the challenges that young people have faced and how they want to inspire others who are experiencing the same kind of issues.
By attending the event, both Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton are hoping that they too can help spread awareness about the various mental health illnesses that thousands all over the world suffer from. The much-loved couple enjoyed their afternoon with different volunteers who also helped them understand the importance of spreading the word on mental health, and how mental health illnesses should be seen more as a serious and severe illness.
