Honda Baby NSX Release Date in 2018? Rumored Coupe Has 300HP

Honda seems to be actually developing the "baby NSX" which is expected to hit showrooms in 2018. Sources close to the automaker have given Auto Express UK more details.

The rumored card is said to be the successor for the S2000 roadster. However, the design may have changed and it might not resemble its predecessor so much.

Leaked patent drawings have shown that the Honda Baby NSX will be sporting a coupe look. Under the hood, it will feature a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, according to Digital Trends.

In order to stay within the emission regulations, Honda opted to drop the 2.0-liter plan. Being environment friendly has become a huge concern for auto regulators after the emissions scandal of Volkswagen.

Millions of VW, Audi and Skoda cars are being recalled after the German automotive company admitted to cheating emission tests. VW installed "defeat devices" on the vehicles to fool standard tests. The company is now facing billions of dollars in fines.

Despite the smaller 1.5-liter engine, the Honda Baby NSX still punches 300 horsepower. There are also rumors that the tech includes some used in F1 vehicles, according to Insider Car News.

Honda and McLaren is said to be collaborating with the development of the rumored car. Formula One tech may leave fans excited about the new vehicle from the Japanese automaker.

The Honda Baby NSX will only come in a coupe design, according to Auto Express UK. This means that buyers won't be able to see a roadster version of the car anytime soon.

Price of the new rumored car is estimated to be within the range of $45,000 and $60,000. While it may seem to be more expensive than the S2000, the car is expected to have electric motors and better fuel economy.

Honda's new Baby NSX is yet to be officially unveiled. There are a couple more years to come before it's rumored release date in 2018, which can still be moved up or delayed.
