As reported by Business Insider, Tarantino recently revealed that The Hateful Eight movie will be released in theaters and through a roadshow. According to Tarantino, the version to be released in cinemas will be six minutes shorter, although, both versions will include an overture and intermission.

"It will be three hours, two minutes", Tarantino said. "The multiplex version is about six minutes shorter, not counting the intermission time, which is about 12 minutes", he said.

Tarantino also revealed that he changed some elements of the multiplex version because he didn't want it to be the "left-handed version" and added that it will be "little less precious about itself" compared to the 70mm version which he plans to release in selected 100 theaters .

He also added that he hopes that the film does well for it to serve as a contemporary way for films to be released. The filmmaker was quoted saying, "I'm hoping that Hateful Eight does well enough that that becomes, for the filmmakers who care, the new premier way to launch their movie in an exclusive way".

According to a report by Independent, it will be the longest film made by Tarantino. Before The Hateful Eight, Tarantino's longest-running film was Pulp Fiction that has a running time of 2 hours and 58 minutes, followed by Django Unchained which has a running time of 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Meanwhile, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Tarantino was lauded by director Christopher Nolan during a discussion in the BFI London Film Festival. Nolan lauded Tarantino's decision to release the film in 70mm and releasing it two weeks before the digital version.
