Pokken Tournament News: Masked Pikachu announced to join the roster; Lucha Libre moves given

By

After its current release, Pokken Tournament had the fans guessing and wanting more for the title, specifically characters. As the roster expanded for the past months, more surprises have been presented to the fans, now in the form of an adorable yellow lucha libre wrestler.

According to Vg247, Pokken Tournament was seen in the previously held Tokyo Game Show 2015, wherein so far, it has looked good, successful and cute-which is precisely the label that the franchise has gone for ever since. But as of recently, adorable was placed alongside fierce with the introduction of a new personality in the game, the Masked Pikachu.

Delivered by Tech Times, the cute squishy first Pokemon of Ash Ketchum is back, and this time, to hand out cans of whooping to the more formidable enemies in the roster such as Machamp, Charizard, Gengar and more. A newly released footage shows the move set given to the masked lightning critter.

As reported by International Business Times, the Masked Pikachu's moves very much resemble that of a traditional luchador wrestler. Most of the moves seen in the video were comprised of drop kicks, hurricanranas and suplexes all throughout. There are also some moves that the Masked Pikachu can actually incorporate with the lightning strikes as seen in the games and series-like stunning an enemy with high voltage hits, finishing it off with a powerful charging butt hit.

Many Pokemon fans may know Pikachu as the lead creature of the entire franchise; given her own toy line, clothing and even festivals in commemoration. Though it seems unlikely for a sole Pikachu to take on much larger, powerful and legendary opponents in opposition to how the game has promoted, the features and skills given to the Masked Pikachu may prove otherwise. Gamers are still to see how the character will fare as a whole, and in the near future, Bandai Namco can perhaps make more for others in the roster as well.

Pokken Tournament was released last July, and along the way, there may be more updates to follow the title. Stay tuned for more news on Bandai Namco's crossover project.
