Samsung is set to unveil its latest Galaxy smartphone, the Galaxy S7, in early 2016. Rumor has it that this next-generation innovative handset will feature 3D Touch technology, which is integrated in the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus devices.
According to leaked information on Weibo, the South Korean tech giant will be adding pressure-sensitive screens next year. Samsung won't be developing an in-house touch sensitive technology, rather it will be using the ClearForce technology from Synaptics.
Recently, Synaptics has launched its ClearForce pressure-sensitive touch solution for smartphones, which is set to be available for shipping alongside force-enabled devices in early 2016. It is now clear that this technology may be used for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7. This move towards 3D Touch technology is possibly a reaction to the integration of pressure sensitivity to Apple's latest iPhone smartphones.
The new ClearForce solution allows smartphone manufacturers to provide interfaces, which can differentiate between zooming, texting, locking or unlocking the device, speed scrolling, and gaming. More so, it can even allow other functions that include photo editing with the use of stylus or through applying variable force with a finger.
Earlier reports say that Samsung will launch its Galaxy S7 in January or February 2016. However, since the company is opting to adapt the ClearForce technology, the release date might be delayed until April of next year.
Nevertheless, the Galaxy S7 won't be the first to use the ClearForce technology if the rumors are to be believed. The forthcoming Huawei Mate S phablet is said to utilize the 3D Touch sensitivity feature as well. Thus, no confirmation about this matter has been given by the companies involved.
On the whole, the ClearForce technology that is alleged to be implemented in the Samsung Galaxy S7 will bring new and powerful interfaces to the device. Definitely, this next-generation Galaxy S series will become a hit in the market.
