As the "Captain Marvel" movie is getting ready for its debut, some stars are showing their interest for the titular lead role. While the casts has not yet named, the screenwriter admitted the struggles involved in writing the script for the Marvel film.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the UFC Women's Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey expressed her interest on taking the role as Carol Danvers. She is hopeful enough that when the casting procedure starts, she will be chosen for the role.
"I'm really looking forward to doing my first starring role opposite Mark Wahlberg [in Mile 22]," she said. "Hopefully by the time Captain Marvel comes around, I will have enough experience and skills in the field for them to really seriously consider me."
Marvel indicated that Captain Marvel is one of the most powerful superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Movie Pilot noted the skills and abilities such as flight, and the ability to hurl energy from her hands. With this, the report suggested Rousey's capabilities fitted for the role.
However, the scriptwriter Meg LeFauve revealed the challenges they are going through in regards with writing the "Captain Marvel" movie. Collider reported that the team has not yet started with the script. They don't want the superhero to be like female Superman with its weakness being obvious in time. But, they might somehow discover it carefully.
Sources revealed that the casting procedure will start next year. While the scriptwriting has begun, the studio is figuring out who's their potential prospect for the lead role. Aside from that, they are already planning for the structure of the "Captain Marvel" movie and some other details.
LeFauve will be working with Nicole Perlman for the script. However, the director's chair is reportedly empty. In terms of casting, Jeremy Latchman of Marvel said they will be specific in choosing the right actress for the "Captain Marvel" movie.
