GoPro is bound to release another flagship camera early next year. The Hero 5 is expected to sport a massive 8k display and an enhanced waterproof capability, making it one of the most advanced portable sports camera to go up to 60 meters under water.
According to Ecumenical News, there is a reason behind why 8K is more preferable than 4K resolution, the same way why tech savvy users choose 4K over 1080p. When a video is captured using an 8K resolution camera and when the user converts it to 4K, the details of the captured video will be much clearer and will look better matched to those videos taken on the 4K. It compresses all the pixels, making the video have a crispier, smoother look.
The GoPro Hero 5 is also speculated to come with 60 frame rates per second. Combining with the 8K quality, this upcoming device will be the dream sports cam of every thrill-explorer wanting to capture every action-filled moment of their adventure.
Furthermore, Day Herald stated on its article that the GoPro Hero 5 will use the A10 processor, which also has the capability of filming videos at 4K resolution at 60fps. GoPro stated that the Hero 5 sports a dual lens setup for better 3D image and video recording. Meanwhile, major improvements have been made to the battery life of the Hero as it already be powered by a 2,800 mAh capacity unit.
The Hero 5 is almost 40% lighter and 50% smaller than hero 4, making it the most portable GoPro so far. This handset can be easily fitted on helmet mounts or on any other part of the body as the user like. In addition, the waterproof capability of the device was also improved as it can perform till 60 meters underwater. GoPro has also introduced the dive housing, which can help the users to have easier portability of the handset.
As for its price, the GoPro Hero 5 should be priced around $550. This was based on the rumored specs, brand new features and capabilities of the gadget, making it costlier than its predecessor.
With the enhanced resolution of up to 8k, the GoPro Hero 5 will surely catch the attention of sports camera enthusiasts out there. Though its release date has not been confirmed by the company yet, the internet rumor mill is predicting for an early 2016 release.
