The long wait is over for the Dying Light fans as Techland finally announced the possible period of release of the game's first DLC. Despite the accidental disabling of modding in the Dying Light and the takedown notices issue which caused some drama between the developers and fans, Techland makes it up with the interesting expansion and the long-awaited announcement on the release date.
Developer Techland has recently announced the release of Dying Light: The Following which is on the first quarter of 2016. Techland confirms it in the game's newly released trailer. Game Producer Tymon Smektala said that since Gamescom 2015, all they have revealed were about their expansion such as the vast countryside map, customizable dirt buggy, new stories and more, except for the release date. True Achievements reports that the reason behind the prolonged reveal is for the developers to be given enough time to put in all the additional contents and surprises that Techland has planned. Smektala also promised to give the specific release date as soon as they get a final decision.
An entirely new story will be featured in The Following which will entirely take place in a rural setting, rather than the Dying Light's urban environment. A customizable dirt buggy shall be used to explore the vast new area, having been reported to be as large as all the maps of Dying Light combined together. The All-Terrain Dirt Buggy has been designed under SILAS motors. With the buggies, players will be able to navigate a skill tree. To make things more exciting, the buggy can also be utilized as a weapon and be converted into a ferry so as to transport players across the game in a faster fashion, while also having the opportunity to slam a zombie head-on during the mod. In the game, players will be investigating for cult activities with prejudice, using the game's new crossbows and submachine guns. Day Herald also reported that through its official Twitter account, Techland described how the city of Harran is being powered by zombies on hamster wheels. In general, the DLC focuses on the story of Kyle Crane who appears to be the game's main protagonist.
Having sold over five million copies since its release in January 2015, the game had been taking it easy in its extra content. Notwithstanding the issues and troubles encountered by the game developers with the online community, it has announced its expansion, The Following in late July. Nothing has been disclosed to the gaming community until this time. Though it garnered reasonable sales, Inquisitr is of the opinion that it had some ground to make up, and that Techland really has to make amendments to its loyal patrons. Reportedly, the developers are to compensate its fans with a lot of contents which involve new gears and weapons.
Dying Light's DLC, The Following, will be released on Q1 2015 at the price of $14.99. Players with Season Pass will have access to the DLC and experience the exciting contents for free.
