Fans of the highly anticipated "Tekken X Street Fighter" are up for some good news, as Bandai Namco is reportedly releasing the game next year. And although there has yet to be an official date as of this writing, reports have it that game director Katsuhiro Harada is cooking a surprise launch.
According to Realty Today, Bandai Namco is indeed pursuing "Tekken X Street Fighter" and is looking to release the game on 2016. The company is reportedly working arduously on the game, though they're still at a pretty far stage into its development. In addition, the character lineup is said to be already finalized and that the devs are just finishing the polygon models, moves and systems.
Christian Today, on the other hand, reported that "Tekken X Street Fighter" had to be placed on hold so as to give way for Banda Namco to focus on other games - namely, "Tekken 7" and "Pokemon Tournament." The publication also added that game director Katsuhiro Harada wanted an earlier release date, but the launch found the need to be moved on a later date.
While the game's release date has yet to be announced, Harada had teased that it's launching will be in a form of surprise, as reported by Franchise Herald. The 45-year-old game director reportedly explained that fans have been anticipating the game for such a long time that "they aren't going to be surprised if you just released it normally." Harada, however, didn't reportedly confirm if that's what Bandai Namco has planned, despite their talks of unveiling "Tekken X Street Fighter" in some kind of surprise.
Further details about "Tekken X Street Fighter's" are currently kept under wraps. Nonetheless, both "Tekken 7" and "Street Fighter 5" are expected to arrive in new generation consoles and PC soon.
With "Tekken X Street Fighter" still under development, fans can only hope for a 2016 release. Besides, if Katsuhiro Harada's surprise launch is to be true, they just have to be on the lookout always.
