Star Wars Episode 8 Cast: Film to feature 2 female leads? 'Doctor Who' Gugu Mbatha-Raw in negotiations with Disney

While The Force Awakens is just two months away, production has started for Star Wars: Episode 8. Casting is also underway for the film as Gugu Mbatha-Raw is currently in negotiations for the film. Speculations are also rampant that two female leads could be included in the film.

As reported by Movie News Guide, "Doctor Who" star Gugu Mbatha-Raw could be the next addition in the cast in the franchise. Although her role for the film has not been confirmed yet, rumors suggest that she could play John Boyega's Finn's love interest, or the female lead in the film.

It was previously revealed that actresses Olivia Cooke, Gina Rodriguez, and Tatiana Maslany also auditioned for an unspecified female lead role in the film which also fueled rumors that a second female lead could be featured in the film.

Aside from Raw, Australia Network News also reported that Hayden Christensen could also return in the film to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker/ Darth Vader after a source revealed that he will soon train to for his appearance in the film.

Moreover as reported by Den of Geek, Benecio del Toro is also confirmed to star in the film as a villain or one of the villains which he also hinted previously in one interview. "Star Wars is coming up, we will see how that turns out. I think we start shooting in March", Del Toro said. "I'm like the villain, but we'll see", he added.

Rian Johnson is directing Star Wars: Episode 8 which he also wrote. Aside from Del Toro, Mark Hamill, and Oscar Isaac are also on board to reprise their roles as Luke Skywalker and Poe Dameron, respectively. The film is set to be produced by Ram Bergman along with Kathleen Kennedy. It is set to be released in cinemas on May 26, 2017.
