There's no doubt that the PlayStation VR can greatly benefit from Sony's gaming expertise. In a recent interview, Sony Computer Entertainment President Shuhei Yoshida hinted that the upcoming Gran Turismo 7 may be optimized to run on PlayStation VR.

Realty Today reported Yoshida's interview with Eurogamer where the SEC President confirmed that the game may support PlayStation VR when GT7 finally comes out. When asked about Sony's properties like GT7 that could fit for VR, Yoshida answered:

"Many trial tests we've been doing, some genres work just fine. One of those genres is racing games. So when Gran Turismo comes out on PS4, I'd like to see it support PlayStation VR, yeah."

This may not be a total confirmation, but since it came out from one board of directors, the intent is real. Talking about the latest technology, he believes that some VR tech will be widely used in the future whether outside entertainment systems because it's definitely a new media.

Several IPs of Sony could work well with the technology of PlayStation VR according to Master Herald. It means that having "Gran Turismo 7" should not cause any problem at all.

This may sound great for the game but GT7 is not considered to be the first ever racing game that works on PlayStation VR as "Driveclub" already has that title. Nevertheless, Yoshida still believes that the performance of "Driveclub" which caused motion sickness to its players need to be improved first before "Gran Turismo 7" will give support to PlayStation VR.

I Digital Times said that it was during Sony's "Project Morpheus" demo on 2014 Game Developers Conference where rumors about PlayStation VR making it to GT7 have started. Yoshida then referred to driving games as one of the most accessible applications for the VR technology.

Time will tell if Sony can successfully deliver Gran Turismo 7 with PlayStation VR. Some players are patiently waiting for the game release as they expect to hear more from Yoshida.
