Known as one of the most successful and fastest Kickstarter campaigns, the much awaited Darkest Dungeon finally has a release date which is set for January 19, 2016. The development of the game actually began in 2013 and what the players are about to witness is the completion of Red Hook Studio's three years of hard work.

Techno Buffalo reported how the studio apologized for not being able to meet the scheduled Halloween launch. Despite the delay, many fans understood the situation since it is due to a family loss from Chris, one of the game developers. With the game finally hitting its launch date, the Red Hook Studio says that the upcoming release is "definitely, for real this time."

Designed and developed by a team composed of four people, this Lovecraft-inspired game is not an ordinary dungeon crawler. The game explores the psychological features of adventuring while the heroes started to succumb to insanity and paranoia as they face horrific monstrosities.

Another important update that will happen from now until January is the introduction of a new playable hero named The Abomination, said Euro Gamer. This hero is described as "[a] bloodthirsty class unlike anything currently in the game". Two more new monsters that are designed by backers of the Kickstarter's game as well as bug fixes and other "goodies" are to be expected.

On a game synopsis shared by Dread Central, they said that Darkest Dungeon concentrates on the humanity aspects and the psychological vulnerability of each heroes and asks the question "What emotional toll does a life of adventure take?"

With just couple of months to go before the arrival of Darkest Dungeon, more gamers also have doubled their excitement and expectations on the game. They have started to mark January 19, 2016 on their calendars and wait patiently on the release date before creeping onto Darkest Dungeon.
