'Person Of Interest' Season 5 Spoilers: Greg Plageman unsure Machine can be brought back to life

Viewers of "Person of Interest" very well know that things were not looking good for The Machine at the Season 4 finale. In a recently released video teaser for the show's Season 5, fans get a glimpse of just how bad the Machine has been damaged and how much work needs to be done for it to be fully restored. Meanwhile, CBS renewed "Person of Interest" Season 5 but only on a 13 episode run.

The Machine returns next season badly damaged with its facial recognition software practically useless reports Crossmap. EP Greg Plageman states, "It's not kicking out numbers right away, that's for sure. The thing about the Machine right now is we're not sure if it has a heartbeat and even if it does, if we have a chance to resuscitate it."

In the latest teaser released for "Person of Interest" Season 5 in the New York Comic Con, TVLine reports that the Machine is having some facial recognition issues and eventually swaps the team's faces with one another while trying to work out the bug and set up their latest mission.

According to Ecumenical News, Season 5 will pick up right where season 4 left off. While Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) is still grief-stricken over saying goodbye to the Machine, John Reese (Jim Caviezel) is starting a new romantic relationship. However, it was already revealed that it won't last. The actor explained that the shortened season might not have enough time to delve into a long romantic relationship. Besides, Reese is still coming to terms with Joss Carter's (Taraji P. Henson) loss and will be constantly thinking of her in the new season.

Fans were left wondering whether the show will be picked up for a new season after CBS took awhile with its renewal announcement. However, when the network finally made the announcement, it was for a reduced order of 13 episodes only.

Even though fans expressed fears that "Person of Interest" Season 5 will be the show's swan song, show creator Jonathan Nolan has assured them that the show will get the ending it deserves. "We're going to make 13 kickass episodes, and drop the microphone. I can't predict down the road but we're very proud of the show and if it's the last season, no one is going to be disappointed with the story we tell," he said.
