Google launched the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow update with the LG Nexus 5X. How will it fair against the new HTC One A9 smartphone?
The two new Android phones have one thing in common. They both run the new Marshmallow version. Performance will depend on their specs.
Display
The LG Nexus 5X has a bigger 5.2-inch LCD-powered display, while the HTC One A9 has a 5-inch AMOLED screen. Both have 1920 x 1080 pixels for the FHD resolution. Even if the former has a larger screen, it still has more than 400 ppi for its pixel density.
Processor and RAM
Powering the LG Nexus 5X is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC with a hexa-core 64-bit processor. Meanwhile, the HTC One A9 sports the Snapdragon 617 chipset from Qualcomm with an octa-core processor, according to Gotta Be Mobile.
In terms of RAM, both have 2GB in store. HTC's phone, however, has a variant that boasts 3GB RAM. It's a tie for the base models.
Storage and Camera
The LG Nexus 5X has a 12.3MP camera for the rear, while it also has a 5-megapixel front shooter, according to ZDNet. The HTC One A9 has a larger 13MP camera and an UltraPixel 4MP snapper at the front. Both have dual LED flashes.
Both of the phones are also offered in 16GB and 32GB options. However, Google's phone does not have an expandable storage option, while the Taiwanese company's phone can be used with a microSD card for up to 2TB.
Features and Release Date
The two phones both have an embedded fingerprint scanner for better security authentication. However, the LG Nexus 5X has the newer USB Type-C port for interchangeability and faster charging of its larger 2700mAh battery. The HTC One A9 has a smaller 2150mAh supported by Qualcomm's Quick Charge V2.0, according to the International Business Times.
The HTC phone will launch on the first week of November, while the new 5X is already available via the Google Store. Interestingly, the two also have a close price range.
Customers will have to shell out $429 for the 32GB variant of the LG Nexus 5X. The HTC One A9 will sell for $399.99 for the 32GB model. Which phone will sell more in the long run?
