Filming has begun for the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in Liverpool where the area was transformed to a vintage snowy set. Colin Farrell also recently revealed new details on his role as wizard Graves.
As reported by Mirror, filming has commenced for the film in Liverpool near the city's St. George Hall. According to the trade, the set was groomed to look as the vintage New York with a dozen of classic cars delivered to the set, and artificial snow sprinkled in the steps of the area.
Moreover, as reported by Examiner, Colin Farrell who is set to play the role of the wizard, Graves, in the film recently hinted few details about the film. Farrell teased that he will be using a wand in the film and noted more about the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them set and the world the characters inhabit in the movie.
"It's just extraordinary--a big world, man. And the sets--I've been around the block a couple of times and I've seen some nice sets, but it's pretty extraordinary to see what they've built--practical stuff. There'll be CGI and all that, but just the physical stuff that's in space", Farrell revealed.
Moreover, as reported by Entertainment.ie, Farrell also previously confirmed that the film that the film will be set in 1920's New York and will be made to look as realistic as it can be. "It's a big, big thing. They've built the most extraordinary set: a block and a half of New York in the 1920s. It's gorgeous. Trams and everything", Farrell further shared.
Liverpool will be the only non-studio location where spin-off will be filmed. The film will center on Newt Scamander's adventures in New York's secret community of witches and wizards. It will be set 70 years before Harry Potter read his book in school.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is directed by David Yates, and written by J.K. Rowling. It also stars Eddie Redmayne, Ezra Miller, Katherine Waterston, and Samantha Morton. It is currently slated to hit theaters on November 18, 2016.
