HTC One M8 Google Play Edition (GPE) is confirmed to be receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow this month via official over-the-air release. According to HTC's updates, this device is now under the testing stage, only a step before Marshmallow officially releases on the smartphone.
While the final Android Lollipop has finally capped off for One M8 GPE last month, Android 6.0 Marshmallow software is coming to the device in October as it is currently test running on the device. HTC's very own user interface Sense 7.0 is also coming with the upgrade alongside many new features.
One M8 GPE devices are expected to be the first device to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow software update among other HTC smartphones and tablets. The Taiwan tech giant was confirmed to release the update on its flagship and mid-range devices, mostly happening by the end of the year and as 2016 kicks off.
Marshmallow will also roll out to HTC One M9+, One M8 EYE, One M8s, One M8 Google Play Edition, One ME, One M7 DS, One E9, One E9+, One E8, Desire EYE, Desire 826, Desire 820, Desire 816 and Desire 816 G.
The upgrade will come with several new features and enhancements for overall system performance, including power saver Doze, improved Apps Permissions, smarter Google Now, direct share, support for fingerprint scanner and Android Pay, more mobile payment systems available, and a lot more.
HTC has launched two topnotch smartphones in 2015, One M9 and One M9+, which will also be updated to Marshmallow. The brand is slated to be released by the end of the year another high-end device One A9 with Marshmallow out of the box.
In other news, Motorola have revealed its plans for its Moto and DROID devices while Sony already enlisted also a bunch of Android 6.0 recipients. However, there has been no expected time of arrival for the brands unlike HTC.
