An article from Moviepilot reported that writer Pete Docter dropped more clues on the characters' imminent new journey. Docter said, "It's definitely a lot of the same characters and the [same] world. But as you know from Toy Story 3, there's kind of a new big chapter to Woody's life. I can't say too much, but it's simultaneously great characters in things you've come to expect, but really a different kind of take on it."
It was suggested that Docter could be teasing an unexpected plot twist that has never been told in the 'Toy Story' franchise in the past. It could also mean that the toys will enter a new chapter in their life with new owner Bonnie.
