HTC One E8 Confirmed to Receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update via Official OTA Release

HTC One E8 has been confirmed to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow software upgrade in the first quarter of 2016 through an official over-the-air release. According to a list of Marshmallow's expected time of arrival to HTC phones, One E8 is now the development stage.

HTC is now on the verge of integrating the Sense user interface and Android 6.0 Marshmallow as reported by a list on its page confirming the rollout. Accordingly, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come by January next year.

One E8 is joining a bunch of HTC smartphones and tablets to receive the new software upgrade as early as January 2016. Other devices confirmed for the upgrade includes HTC One M9+, One M9, One M8, One M8 EYE, One M8s, One M8 Google Play Edition, One ME, One M7 DS, One E9, One E9+, Desire EYE, Desire 826, Desire 820, Desire 816 and Desire 816 G.

One E8 is currently receiving the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop software version and is expected to skip 5.0.2, 5.1 and 5.1.1 versions.

The Marshmallow upgrade will come with a host of new features and both major and minor tweaks in overall system performance. New features and enhancements include the power saver Doze, improved Apps Permissions, smarter Google Now, direct share, support for fingerprint scanner and Android Pay, more mobile payment systems like Visa, Master Card, Discovery, and Google Pay, and many more.

HTC released two high-end phablets this year, the One M9 and One M9+ devices, which are also slated for the upgrade. The Taiwan giant is reported to launch later this month another high-end device called One A9 with Marshmallow out of the box.

In other news, Motorola have revealed its plans for its Moto and DROID devices while Sony already enlisted also a bunch of Android 6.0 recipients. However, there has been no expected time of arrival for the brands unlike HTC.
