Android 6.0 Marshmallow's official over-the-air release to HTC Butterfly 3 smartphones looms as the device manufacturer confirmed the upgrade coming to its flagship devices. According to latest reports, Marshmallow will begin rolling out to Butterfly 3 by early 2016.
HTC Butterfly 3 units are expected to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow software following confirmation of the Taiwanese tech giant that the upgrade is coming to One M9 and One M8. Although there is no official statement from HTC as of now, reports pointed out the possibility of the upgrade to Butterfly 3.
According to a news report from IB Times, Butterfly 3 will be receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow beginning January 2016, a month after the rollout goes to HTC's flagship devices. Despite the unofficial news, Butterfly 3 will most likely be getting the update based on its specs. The device wears 3 GB of RAM and 2 GHz of processor, sufficient already to support Marshmallow.
The biggest and most exciting update in Android history will bring a lot of fresh features and improvements, plus HTC's very own Sense 7.0 user interface. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will bring in new key features like battery saver Doze and enhancements in Google Now, Apps Permissions, and app drawer, among others.
In August, HTC already revealed that the Marshmallow update was coming to One M9 and One M8. However, there was not a rollout date revealed by the giant.
As expected, the company is now busy preparing to launch the update not only to the flagship devices but to mid-rangers as well.
HTC operates on a 90-day cycle for software upgrades. It also releases updates after two years from a device's discharge depending on mobile networks and/or location.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow software is projected to roll out as well to HTC devices including One M9+, One M8 EYE, One E9+, One E9, One E8, One ME, Desire 826, Desire 820 and Desire 816. Meanwhile, HTC will be launching on October 20 the One A9 smartphone with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
