Apple TV will Have Siri, Shipping Starts Next Week

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal last Monday, Apple CEO Tim Cook made the announcement that Apple TV will be ready for purchase starting Monday, October 26. That will be next week.

Fortune writes that Apple has incorporated Siri into the latest generation of Apple TV. Siri will be made available through a small button on the remote. With a simple push of that button, users will be able to ask Siri questions pertaining to television shows, movie releases, and questions like such.

In the San Francisco presentation last September 9, Apple unveiled its plan to "fix" the broken TV experience. The new Apple TV set will have a more advanced processor and will cost $149 for th 32 GB model, or $199 for the 64 GB version.

In his interview with WSJ, Tim Cook expressed great confidence in the new generation of Apple TV, and Apple's plan to revolutionise the TV experience. Cook referred to the launch next Monday to the ""foundation of the future of TV."

Macworld shares a portion of that interview by quoting Cook where he refers to how the "linear TV" experience is "terrible and "broken". The means by which the company aims to address this issue is through apps, which is an integral part of the new Apple TV

In a research by Park Associates last August, Apple's top box was placed in fourth place for most popular media streaming devices based on U.S. sales. The leader of the market was Roku with a 34% share of the market.

Apple has also managed to create an agreement with Disney to provide Disney Infinity 3.0 gaming platform into Apple TV.

Starting Monday, those who wish to purchase Apple TV can do so through their website. Currently, the Apple main site shows the Apple page with the words "coming soon", but anticipators are expecting to see a buy button by Monday.
