Microsoft Surface Book Powered By NVIDIA GPU Ready To Take On Apple MacBook

Microsoft already made their own tablets that are trying their hardest to become laptops. However, the people wanted the latter. Enter the new Surface Book, a laptop that can become a tablet with a push of a button.

Apple has been killing it with their MacBook Pro and iPad line, but many are expecting the new Surface Book may be able to contend with the Cupertino-based tech giant. Redmond may be on to something here.

Previous models of the Surface Pro tablets did not really take off as planned. Microsoft wanted them to replace laptops by adding detachable keyboards. Apple answered this by revealing the iPad Pro. Now, Microsoft has another one up its sleeve.

Even just with the name, the Surface Book is obviously aimed at the MacBook or MacBook Pro. The design also copies a bit from the minimalism motif of the iPhone maker. The Windows logo is also placed at the back of the screen, much like in Apple's devices.

Under the hood, the base and upgraded models aren't half bad. The screen is a 13.5-inch Pixel Sense touch screen, according to Ars Technica.

Base models of the Surface Book have the Skylake Core i5 processors from Intel coupled with 8GB RAM. The upgraded models sport Core i7 processors and 16GB RAM.

Another interesting one from the specs is that it has a dedicated graphics card. Microsoft did not clarify what model they were using, but the specifications are close to the GeForce GT940M, according to BGR.

Going back to its physical design, the laptop can also become a tablet. The user can detach the screen from the hinge to use it as a tablet with its 10-point capacitive touch screen.

One thing that users do have to note is that the detachment relies on battery power. If the device has no battery juice left, the user will have to wait for a 10 percent charge, according to The Verge.

Perhaps a little blow to the iPad Pro, the Surface Book also supports a stylus. It's not as complex and complicated as the Apple Pencil, but it works for most tasks.

Microsoft's Surface Book starts at $1499 for the base model. Will it be able to beat Apple's MacBook line?
