Many viewers speculated different dates for the premiere of "Rick & Morty" Season 3 following the last episode of Season 2. Although there is no confirmation yet from the show's co-creators, the show's third run is predicted to be set on March 5, 2017 at the earliest.
According to Master Herald, if the statement of eccentric character Mr. Poopybutthole of the American adult animated TV series "Rick and Morty" made during the credits sequence of the Season 2 finale is the basis, the exact date will be on March 5, 2017. Mr. Poopy Butthole told the pizza delivery boy in such season finale to "tune in to Rick and Morty season 3 in like a year and a half or longer to see how we unravel this mess."
The second season of Rick & Morty aired more than a year after the first season ended and it is most likely that Season 3 will have the same fate. Co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland have already announced that the show will have Season 3 even before Season 2 ended.
There are a lot of theories surrounding the story of Season 3, especially the return of previous characters in both Seasons 1 and 2. In an interview with Movie Pilot, Roiland was quoted saying "we've got a lot of little loose sweater threads we've sprinkled throughout [seasons] one and two that we're going to come back and tie in a nice little bow in subsequent seasons." Harmon, on the other hand, also promised to force Mr. Meeseeks into season three.
Now with Rick in prison and Earth under control of the Galactic Federation, the Smith family will have to undergo some changes, especially with Morty. According to International Business Times, viewers will expect a lot of troubles for the emotional teenager Morty, who does not have his crazy grandfather to take him off on his weird adventures.
There is a lot to look forward to in the next season of "Rick & Morty" but fans will have to wait much longer. The third season will still be shown on Adult Swim.
