Xiaomi revealed a list of its devices getting the stable MIUI 7 update build on October 27. The MIUI 7 update will reportedly come with new themes and useful features.
Android Headlines stated in a report that Xiaomi has already published a long list of devices set to get the latest MIUI 7 update. The following are the devices included by Xiaomi: the Redmi 1S, Redmi 2, Redmi Note 4G, Mi 3, Mi Note 4, Mi 4, and Mi Pad tablet. In China, devices slated for the MIUI 7 update are: the Redmi 1SW, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi 2, Redmi Note 2, Mi 2 and 2S, Mi 4, Mi 4, Mi 4c, Mi 41, Mi Note, Mi Note Pro, and Mi Pad.
However, the report added that MIUI 7 will not bring Android Lollipop to all devices. Some will only get the KitKat version of the OS. Such is the case for Xiaomi Mi 4 which already started receiving the MIUI 7. Owners of recent Xiaomi flagships are speculating that they, too, will only receive KitKat-based MIUI 7.
Still, the MIUI 7 update comes with thousands of new themes and some useful features according to a report by Latin Post. Users will be able to choose from about 15,000 new themes to set on their devices. Three main themes are included by Xiaomi in the update: Ocean Breeze, Pink Blush, and High Life.
Additionally, users can opt to animate their lock screens with weather forecast updates or games. The MIUI 7 will also have a power-saving feature that prolongs battery life up to 10 percent and improves response time by 30 percent.
Other features include a new XXL text size option, a "Child Mode" setting to limit what children can do with the device, a "Showtime" feature that sets five-second videos as caller IDs. The MIUI 7 update also has the MI Roaming app that will function as a virtual SIM card for users travelling abroad.
Tech Times reported that the global stable build of the MIUI 7 update will launch on October 27. Xiaomi devices will receive it over-the-air (OTA). The stable MIUI 7 build will also come to China on the specified date.
According to the results of a poll conducted by Xiaomi, more than 80 percent users reportedly cannot wait for the update to come. By the time the MIUI 7 update launches, users will finally be able to experience the new features promised the latest Xiaomi OS.
