The new Xiaomi Mi TV 3 offers a portable smart TV and quality audio experience with its set-top box known as the Mi TV Bar. Reports say that the Mi TV 3's smart speaker bar is cheaper than the Apple TV.
Xiaomi's Mi TV 3 launched with a 60" LG display capable of 4K video playback. Tech in Asia reported that the Mi TV 3 comes with the new Mi TV Bar that can separately function even without the original Mi TV 3 screen. With the Mi TV Bar, Xiaomi aims to offer users a portable smart TV experience. The speaker bar can reportedly connect to any old TV to make it "smart" and run Xiaomi's Android TV platform, the MIUI TV.
By putting the TV's brain on a separate device, Xiaomi plans to make upgrades and replacements of TV components easier. The Mi TV Bar houses a MStar 6A928 processor and 2GB DD3 RAM. The company also opts to reach more users with the Mi TV Bar that has built-in speaker to deliver quality sound experience from any kind of screen. It has Virtual Surround technology and automatic volume balance support.
Engadget reported that the Xiaomi Mi TV 3's price will reportedly be lower than the Apple TV. The Xiaomi Mi TV Bar will sell at RMB 999 ($160) while the Apple TV set-top box costs US$149 (without a speaker) and the Amazon Fire TV is at $100.
The Xiaomi Mi TV 3's sleek display measures 11.6mm and promises quality color display. It will also offer connectivity via two USB ports, one VGA and Ethernet port, and three HDMI ports. The new set-top box of Xiaomi launched in China according to a report by Neowin.
As of now, the Xiaomi Mi TV 3 and Mi TV Bar is only available in the Chinese market. If the device proves to be successful, there is a possibility that the Xiaomi Mi TV 3 will hit international markets such as the US and the UK.
