AT&T-Exclusive Samsung Galaxy S5 Gets Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update

Last October 22, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update was rolled out to the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 subscribers. The update is expected to feature security fixes, which include the Stagefright exploit and can be downloaded through over the air.

AT&T has released a change log that states the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy S5 includes system improvements and Android for Work. The Android for Work feature lets employees to bring their smartphones at work and allows them to access a secure container of enterprise-centric Google applications. Additionally, the update comes with a fix for the Ultra Power Saver mode, which functions on smartphones that use On Device Encryption.

The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the AT&T-exclusive Galaxy S5 is around 610MB in size and users are required to connect to a WiFi network when starting the update. Also, the device's battery should be at least 50 percent charged in order to continuously download the update.

In case you are getting the update via OTA, bear in mind that it is sent to the users in a staggered manner. Some may have already received it, while others may still have to wait for it. It takes a few days before it reaches some devices. However, the user might want to verify the update manually. Simply go to the Settings of your Samsung Galaxy S5 and then click About Device. After that, check if the update has arrived.

Hopefully, this won't be the last update for the device. Rumor has it that a list of Samsung models is tapped to receive the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, which also includes the Galaxy S5.
