Much trouble is brewing in "The Leftovers" Season 2. Despite being in the new town known as Miracle National Park, the characters seem to be nowhere close to a miracle in the first four episodes of the season. Things will most likely be getting a lot worse in the next episode, 'No Room at the Inn' especially for the town's most zealous believer, Reverend Matt Jamison (Christopher Eccleston).
According to a synopsis by IBTimes, Matt will take his vegetative wife, Mary (Janel Moloney), outside of Miracle to get some answers about her condition. But when he tries to return to the town again, the guards on the border will not allow them to pass though. That leaves them stranded among the increasingly restless and violent tourists camped just outside the gates of the city. Matt then struggles to keep his wife safe from whatever threats lie outside the town.
The promo for episode 5 reveals that Matt and Mary will have a difficult time being barred from entering the gates. It shows them drenched in the rain, warding off brawling tourists, and arguing with border guards in order for them to get home. Things are looking to be getting pretty desperate, as John (Kevin Caroll) tells Kevin (Justin Theroux), "It's every man for himself out there... It can get rough."
Meanwhile, the search for Evie (Jasmin Savoy Brown) continues and it is revealed in the promo from HBO that someone might have seen the missing girls in the street. But as recalled, Patti (Ann Dowd) told Kevin in episode 4 that the girls "departed."
CarterMatt reports that through most of "The Leftovers" Season 2, HBO and the show's producers have done a tremendous job of giving many of its characters individual snapshots. Episode 1 introduces the Murphy family, while the second episode incorporated Kevin Garvey's story back into the fold. The next episode shows Laurie and Tom's new lives and episode 4 brought us back into the world of Kevin once again.
Since the very beginning of the series, faith has somehow been a big part of the story. The episode next week will focus on the distressed Reverend Matt Jamison. What was he looking for in Miracle? Why did he believe in this place so much? The episode title also has a clear Biblical reference to it.
